Why do we need budget cuts instead of just printing more money?

i just read about a school in california that just got built for 100 million dolllars because of overcrowding in the current school but cant be used cause the city or whatever cant pay to run the school due to budget cuts. I dont understand why the government mint cant just print out the 3 million dollars to run the school. I dont get why people cant just print out the money for it. inflation wouldnt be that bad
