Are liberals capable of thinking about the consequences of their beliefs or do they live only for the present?

Specifically related to illegal immigration - what do liberals think the consequences are going to be 30-40 years down if illegal immigrants are allowed to pour in the porous border? Specifically related to inflation, unemployment, food prices, quality of living.
